Hauntology is a 6-track album that uses production methods such as sampling, synthesis and audio manipulation utilizing older hardware like the Akai s950, Mackie CR 1604 and old sampling CD’s. The album captures the timbres found in early 90’s electronic dance music and applies them to genres such as Hardtek creating a hybrid style of this genre. The album also re-creates the sounds of early 90s Jungle and Breakbeat Hardcore. The album is called ‘Hauntology’ because a French philosopher, Derrida, created the theory, which explained that a ghost which is a being from the past, exists and belongs in the present. The aesthetic of the early 90s is being used to haunt the present within the tracks of this album, while blending new genres, creating a hauntological fusion.
